Letter to Season Ticket Holders

Yesterday, a season ticket holder 'Ben' who is cancelling his tickets sent us the letter included with ticket invoices.  Also attached to the letter were six 'exclusive' season ticket holder football cards (I doubt these will be like the '52 Mickey Mantle Topps Card).  Players include:  Jordan Shipley, Carson Palmer, Domata Peko, Leon Hall, Andrew Whitworth, and Jermaine Gresham. 

Also included with the invoice was a coupon for $25 off a purchase of $50 or more in the pro shop.  No popcorn vouchers this year, however.

The letter reads:

Dear Season Ticket Holder:

Let me simply say on behalf of all of our coaches, players, staff and ownership:  thank you for your support.   We know the 2010 season record failed to meet expectations but we are looking forward to an exciting 2011 season and the opportunity to have the success we believe we are capable of.  We will continue working to improve the overall stadium in-game experience for you, your family and friends.

Jeff Berding Says There's Only Room For One Massive Failure In This Town

You guys remember Cincinnati Councilman Jeff Berding, right?  He of broomball fame?  Well, I was reading C. Trent's Thinking Out Loud (which is worth checking out every day) yesterday and saw this gem from The Broomball BadBoy.

For those who don't feel like reading, a summary.  Berding, who also works for the Bengals (which would be comical if it wasn't the least surprising thing ever), wants to tax the homeless on their earnings.  He also wants to make them register with the city.  When they do this, they have to get rid of those ratty and sometimes creative (I love the "Why lie I want beer" guy) signs so that they can have a standardized sign from the city.  This sign would, "say how much money the city has approved for agencies that help homeless people – more than $11 million this year," according to Berding.

To be honest, I'm not against that sign at all.  As long as Mike Brown and the rest of the Bengals "brain" trust have to carry around signs that tell us exactly how much the county has given them.  I'm willing to bet that between maintainance, upgrades and the like, it's more than a touch over $11 million.

Short of that, I think we should be able to get creative with what these signs say.  I have a few suggestions:

• I'm the Bengals of personal finance
• Will Scout For Food
• I swear this isn't Mike Brown in disguise
• Kick in the nuts from me: $5. Kick in the nuts at PBS: $162 dollars for a two game pack. Another year without a playoff birth: Obvious.

Anybody else have any suggestions?
