Introduction
WE, the members of the Who Dey Revolution, in our fervent dedication to the Cincinnati Bengals and fanatical desire to transform our hometown team into perpetual Super Bowl contenders, call for a popular revolution of fans to demand comprehensive reform to the managerial decisions and approach of Cincinnati Bengals ownership, management, staff and players, and hereby call for the adoption of the following Who Dey Revolution Manifesto:
Manifesto Demands
THAT the Mike Brown, Katie Blackburn, Marvin Lewis, along with every other member of the Bengals management, staff and personnel, state publicly to all Bengals fans, “I will do everything in my power to help the Cincinnati Bengals win a Super Bowl;”
THAT Mike Brown will hire a general manager, drastically expand the scouting department and relinquish all control of player personnel;
THAT all training, rehabilitation and medical facilities are considered best-in-class compared to other NFL teams;
THAT the management fill the team only with players who fit the system, both mentally and physically, and are not reluctant to makes changes to player personnel when needed, regardless of cost or loyalty concerns;
THAT offensive and defensive line depth is considered the top priority for all player personnel decisions;
THAT all decisions made by ownership, management, staff and players, both on and off the field, are judged only by this criterion: “Does this help the Cincinnati Bengals win a Super Bowl?”

Not just zero playoff wins.
His record against playoff teams in regular or post-season is something like 14-44-1 (0.246 winning percentage) with only one season (2003!) where he was above .500 against playoff teams.
That's pretty terrible.

The Bengals have invented a new stat for NFL football, including for the fantasy leaguers. It's known as: "blone".
As in, blone season, blone-out knee, blone playoffs, blone deal for Chad.
And if they screw up the coaching staff worse next year?
Strike another "X" to the "blone" category.
Be sure to crunch that in with your fantasy stats. You'll be quite busy.

BTW another little tidbit: Of the 14 wins Marvin has "racked up" against playoff teams during his almost decade of tenure, most of them came against either (a) The Baltimore Ravens, or (b) The NFC North. So that does very little in the way of building confidence that he could put together even the two-game win streak in the post-season that is needed to become the Super Bowl runner up.

@ occam - actually, Lewis only beat NFC North playoff teams twice. Once in 2005 (Bears 24-7) and again in 2009 (Green Bay 31-24). While that does make up approximately 14% of his overall wins against playoff teams, I'm not sure if it warrants a statistic. However the Ravens bit is true: 35% of total wins... though now that I look at it together... that does add up to about 50% then, doesn't it?

People still do not get it, wins and loses mean nothing to MFB other than a few more wins equal a few more seats sold and few less people complaining.
I am more surprised it's not a 5 to 7 year extension because whether anyone likes it or not LOYALTY is MFB's motivation and WINNING factor.
LOYALTY trumps wins and championships.
You can ignore any statistics relating to on field activity just liks everyone did last year as the celebrated the new bengals and how good they are and we are so happy for the future as the completed a season of beating/surprising a few teams but as usual losing to the best teams who know how to prepare.
Katie and MFB were happy with the easy schedule as on of there hopes for a godd 2011 Hurray!! Now wait until 2012 and 5 wins because they play a tough schedule.
I feel good for the lemmings of bengaldom, go 2012. I have to say I love always being right and watching the lemmings complain all the time.
Can't wait for 2012!!!!

Yeah, right now Mike Brown is looking to make a cool $45 million to $60 million extra by not spending up to the cap this year. He doesn't have to. So why would he? Even if just leaves it to his usual $10 million or $20 million under everyone else... that adds up to a lot of Denny's.
That's why he could afford to pay cash to buy out the minority stake in the team. Because he's been paying himself and his family so much of the loot.
2012: More of the same-old same-old, to be sure.

@kotw65: I don't get it. You lost me somewhere in your fourth paragraph, when you stopped using English and switched to some borderline gibberish tongue.
@DNOPBS: We get it. The Bengals suck, now and forever. Even those of us who enjoyed last season's surprising success (and yes, 9-7 and making the playoffs was a success in a year when they were widely expected to be the worst team in the league) aren't naive enough to believe that things are going to be significantly different, not unless Mike Brown makes an active push in free agency to fill glaring needs on the team.
HOWEVER, with the free agency period still two weeks away, you can't decisively state that Brown isn't going to spend close to the cap this year, can you? Certainly, the fact that there's been little to no effort to re-sign any of the Bengals own free agents is disheartening, but let's give free agency a chance to actually get started before you right the obituary on it, okay?

Aw yes, the orange drink of optimism without reason is flowing free. Welcome to groundhog day 2012 or 1991? Just give MFB a chance.
I had so much satisfaction this past playoff game which I predicted to be a loss 38 to 10 as there were no statistics available to give the bengals a tiny chance to win and I was right well, almost 31 to 10.
Anyway, after all the BS the present bengals fans spewed all season even though they couldnt beat a team with a winning record it was fantastic to see them unable to speak, so deflated. It helps make up for all past seasons of giving my money to MFB.

Wyatt, I don't see the problem with assuming Mike Brown won't do something in the best interest of his team, like filling holes in free agency. Especially since that assumption, unlike most assumptions, is based on over 20 years of history. In fact, given the history, it seems foolish to not make that assumption. Actually it's the definition of insanity to expect a different result at this point. Besides, what does one have to lose by expecting MB to be cheap in free agency (if he does spend, like he has at times before, it is often foolish, e.g., Antonio Bryant, TO)? If he does, for once, spend money on quality free agents you will still be happy, but if he doesn't you won't, or shouldn't, be as disappointed.
Besides, I think the point about MB buying out the minority stake with cash is a good point. Sure seems likely he might won't to rebuild his cash reserves with a big GM bonus now. That's how he does business.

@bungalfamily: I'm fine with the assumption that Mike Brown won't do what's right for the team. What I have a problem with is DNOPBS stating that he won't as if it's an iron-clad fact. In the past twelve months, we've seen him do two things we never thought he would do (firing Bratkowski and allowing Lippincott to leave the team), and even before that, he managed to retain Mike Zimmer's services when none of us thought that was possible.
So no, I don't *expect* Mike Brown to go after free agents who would most benefit the team, but I'm also not willing to completely rule it out either. That's actually my biggest problem with DNOPBS - everything he/she writes is passed off as gospel, when in fact it's mostly conjecture. There's almost never any kind of measurable statistics to back up the points he/she makes, and when confronted with actual facts, he/she just changes the premise of their argument. That's not conducive to good discussion in any way, shape, or form. For the best example of this, scroll down a couple of posts and look at our discussion of the Bengals post-2005 - DNOPBS said the Bengals "made no effort" to improve their defense, and I pointed out that they pursued what were believed to be strong free agents (and trades), and that they spent nearly 2/3rds of their draft picks in the following two years on defense (including Jonathan Joseph and Leon Hall, who were the only two bright points on a mediocre-bordering-on-terrible defense at one point in time).

All the Koolaid drinkers have got the signings lined up: Is it Carl Nicks? Or Maybe Mike Wallace? How's Cortland Finnegan sound? When the reality will turn out to be either (a) Resigning scrubs, or (b) Inking wastes-of-money like fat Sam Adams, just coming for a last paycheck, or wastes of money like Antonio Bryant, who was already too far gone.
But hey, with only 20 years of evidence on my side, I don't have a strong enough case. Let's revisit this post on August 1st then.
Of course I wasn't fooled by the 2006 offseason moves like some people were. Those people will probably think whatever MFB pulls out of his rear end are "great moves"...

It is the most wonderful time of year around here since this is the only thing Bengals fans can hang their hats on, they cannot hang it on a playoff win, nor a Super Bowl trophy, it is Free Agency where they all know as we do MFB will not go there and the so called great draft picks. This will surely make this team a winner! lol 21 years and counting and these fans who think this way still have not proven their points and never will under the helm of MFB. It is PATHETIC and SAD! These fans are just that.
