Project Mayhem Task #9 has been launched, and the second WDR aerial assault on Georgetown took place this afternoon. You can read about and see pictures of the first attack here. From 3:15 until 4:05 pm, a plane carrying the message, "$485,000,000 To Build PBS = 0 Playoff Wins!" circled Toyota Stadium at Georgetown College while the Bengals were practicing. Mike Brown, Katie, Troy and the whole crew were watching.
Remember, this assault is not over, but we need your help. These planes/banners are expensive, and WDR, unlike Mike Brown, has not inherited a money making machine like the Bengals. Please donate $19 by clicking on the PayPal link on the top left of the page to keep the planes flying. WDR and PayPal take all major credit cards, including American Express. Try buying Bengals Tickets with AmEx. (Hint: You can't) A full recap of the day, and some incredible pictures, after the jump.
It was a beautiful day and there was an average crowd of around 1000-2000 fans. The atmosphere was pretty quiet, with very little crowd noise. The biggest cheer of the day was when Maurice Purify dominated Roy Williams in Oklahoma Drill and almost started a fight. Chad and Chris Henry also made some nice catches in 7 on 7, but with Carson out with an "illness", it was a pretty uneventful day. Once the plane showed up about 15 minutes into practice, you could hear the buzz of the engine, fans saying to each other, "Oh my god, look at that." and audible laughter from all over the stands. The plane circled for almost an hour, and throughout the entire hour fans were looking up at the plane and taking pictures. Like these fine men and women.
Fan reaction was all over the map from, "I love WhoDeyRevolution", to "God damn, I voted for that stadium tax, I want my money back" to "what a waste of money." From the people I talked to, the vast majority of fans were at least amused, with at least 30-40% knowing it was WDR, and offering support for our cause. However, there were some fans there who were not happy with the plane, which shows that WDR still has a long way to go, and we can not give up now. Did Mike Brown see the plane? Of course, look at these gems.
Why did we choose this message? Not because we want to get into the specifics of the Stadium debate (which is an issue we have discussed many times), but because Bengals Fan and Hamilton County Taxpayers gave Mike Brown hundreds of millions of dollars, hoping that Mr. Brown and his family would make a good faith effort to put a winning (not just competitive) football team on the field. Mike Brown has miserably failed, and owes Bengals fans and taxpayers a big explanation and money. Mike Brown asked for public dollars, therefore he has a duty to the public. Year after year, Mike Brown fails to live up to his end of the bargain. WDR is here to unite Bengals fans to demand that Mike Brown live up to the agreement he voluntarily made with taxpayers.
Our pilot reported no problems from Georgetown Police who yesterday were attempting to circumvent the FAA and ground the plane. While Mike Brown may have beat the IRS in tax court, ground Hamilton County taxpayers into fine dust, he has not corrupted the FAA. If sketchy people in black Lincoln Towncars begin sitting outside of WDR writer's houses/apartments, we may start to worry. But for now, we have the First Amendment and the Truth on our side.
WDR will have much more during the week about the first two attacks of Project Mayhem Task #9, but remember we need your help to keep the planes in the air. Donate via paypal on the link on the top left of the screen.
For now, here are some more pictures from this afternoon's wonderful, and merciless WDR Assault on Georgetown.
And this last one really sums up how Mike Brown feels about WDR and fans letting him know the Truth.

You guys are awesome!
I'm just pleased that even at Georgetown, the Browns have their own little box seats and don't have to sit too near the riff raff.

If only "The Lost generation" would tell us what MikeyBoy Brown was thinking in those photos...

This is my favorite Project Mayhem task so far without question! WDR and fed-up fans we need to keep the pedal to the metal!!!!

I was there, at least 75% of the people there did not even see the banner or respond to it
Posted by: 2kirkalypse | August 03, 2009 at 01:46 PM
2kirk, Yea right and I guess you spoke to all 75 percent of them too. LOL Do you have any pictures to prove your so called non point? Nope! So sit back and watch real action in progress! Great Job guys and here comes my $19.

This is awesome: great job. It's good that the fans there are seeing it, and hopefully they understand where you're coming from. I would love to hear what MB said to the others about it.
One worry I do have, though, and it sort of relates to what 2kirk's saying (though I wasn't there, so I won't say he's right or wrong). I've haven't seen or heard a single sports media outlet even mention the planes at Georgetown. I thought it would at least get a nod on PFT or something like that, but nope, not one word. I do not read James Walker (or ESPN's site in general), but I had to check his blog out because I didn't think even he could talk about Georgetown without mentioning it. Again, nothing.
Is there a conspiracy against WDR? If word isn't spreading about the protests, I'd be a little worried.

It kinda makes one wonder if MBB has an embargo against the media... ..."You print the story about the airplanes and banners and you and your media organization are not welcome to come to camp."? Wouldn't put it past that POS (MBB). In fact, I would bet that that is exactly what's been done.

I would really like to see a reference to the rookie holdouts that happen every year. I am not bribing; I am just saying I would easily make a double donation for such a thing. By the way these are F*ing awesome keep up the good work. If it is true that 75 % of people don't see them, I will drive down one day and yell "Hey what is that? Is that awesomeness in action? Yeah I think it is."

Bias in the media? Unheard of. Media turning a blind eye to truth? Shocking!
Leo's right. A "The Lost Generation" toon with MFB's thought's(an oxymoron) is needed. Spence?

P.S. Or maybe a toon showing the crowd's thoughts, in one of the panels, along with Mikey's.

Daugherty mentioned the banners on his blog, TML for 8/3. That's all I've seen, though.

Someone from WDR needs to contact the local TV stations sports people prior to doing another banner. Give them the exact dates and times and I am sure they will be there to tape it.
