Chad Johnson has had quite a week. He is now using Twitter like a 14 year old girl texts and now has face tattoos of the State of Florida and one of 2 crosses. After his year-long temper tantrum last year and poor performance on the field, these kind of antics have become quite a tired act. I can't believe anyone is still entertained by Chad's craziness.
That being said, if the Bengals start winning a lot of football games and maybe, I don't know, make the playoffs and perhaps win a playoff game or two (goals for most NFL teams), and Chad is back to his old self on the FIELD, I will be loving any crazy thing Chad does/says. Until then, tattoos, twitter, blah blah blah...start winning and performing on the field and then I will pay attention to your act again.
I was more encouraged by the fact that he actually showed up to the OTAs this week so he and Carson can actually practice throwing and catching footballs together. This is a good thing and hopefully shows he will be a different receiver this year.
Quick side note: I will continue to refer to 85 as "Chad Johnson" until he actually starts doing well on the football field. Remember the scene in "Coming to America" where the guys in the barber shop are debating what to call Muhammed Ali/Cassius Clay? Well, in this case, I am siding with Clarance:
Saul:
Goddammit. If a man wants to call himself Muhammed Ali, I say Muhammed Ali.
Clarence:
Mama call him Clay - I call him Clay. Cassius Clay.
UPDATE: Apparently the whole "facial tattoo" thing was a joke. From @OGOchoCinco: "The entire twitt world and media outlets got punked, that was my twitt joke from yesterday, they follow I'll have fun with it."
As I stated earlier: who cares, let's play some football.

Oh, and here's some more "I'm so stupid it's funny" from Chad Ohnowierdo...
-----------------------
And that whole thing about me and Carson being Brokeback Mountain... Wow that was gay. I have to admit that I had never seen the movie before and I don't think that is exactly what I meant, as a matter of fact I meant the opposite of what i said. But I have a tattoo on my face, I didn't see one of those in Brokeback, so think about that.
Now that I've had a night I think about it actually, I'd say we're more like Operation Dumbo Drop. Carson is the big elephant and I am the black guy trying to save him. Although in the movie, Danny Glover did an exceptional job as the black guy, but again, I have tattoos on my face, so I will undoubtedly be better.
------------------------------------------------
I had never seen the movie before... What? I've never seen the movie and I still know it's about gay cowboys.
As far as Operation Dumbo Drop, maybe CJ should check the urban dictionary...
http://www.urbandictionary.com...%20Dumbo%20Drop
The process of hovering over a dirty toilet seat to take a crap so you do not get your back end covered in germs.
A Bowel Movement of extraordinary volume and girth, often requiring a courtesy flush or a plunger.
Insult for someone who is of lower intelect of the norm. A.K.A. DUMBASS!
Actually, maybe it IS like Operation Dumbo Drop.
Danny Glover wasn't trying to save the elephant, he was deliberately taking it into a war zone and getting it shot at to appease a small village of ignorant and superstitious locals that they desperately wanted to like them for no good reason. So, in a way, Chad is the guy who is subjecting Carson to Mortar fire just to appease ignorant people he desperately wants to like him in a battle that is futile to begin with.

LostInDaJungle, can you provide a link or anything to where Chad said all that stuff? I'm as tired of his schtick as anyone, but I have trouble believing he referenced Operation Dumbo Drop, or said he was better than Danny Glover because of face tattoos. Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but all that seems quite a stretch.

That sounds exactley like sonething C.O.C. would say because he is a crack head and again i think we should refer to him as his initials say COC

I like the face tat. Now he can be in Flo Rida's next video wearing his Ocho Cinco jersey. Also I like the Chad that wants to make everyone like him a lot more than the Chad we saw last year.

Chad no longer needs to go...we HAVE to get rid of this circus freak.

We are clearly in the midst of a NFL offseason news drought when THIS passes for news. WHO FREAKING CARES???

chad's the real deal. always has been. last year doesn't count for anyone...unless you count it for ghuicec...who chaddy called the f@ck out in just about the most hilarious thing i've seen in a while...i believe by all rights that makes chad a friend of the revolution.

Chad's ridiculous. Like Brosef said: Once he performs on the field and shows he a good team player, I'll welcome him back. Also a rad reference with the barber shop scene in "Coming to America"--should we call Chad "Sexual Chocolate", too? And, I do love that Chad blasted Ghiacuic--awesome.
Posted by: BengalAnthony13 | June 11, 2009 at 04:00 PM
Told that former center Eric Ghiaciuc indicated The Ocho was a distraction, he fired back, "Ghiaciuc's play was a distraction. Of all people to call me that."

According to urbandictionary.com definition #1, I did an Operation Dumbo Drop at a rest stop recently. Sweet.

You know, all of this Chad talk is helping to obscure something which has gone unnoticed and is generally forbidden to be spoken of in WDR and other blogs in "Bengals Nation". The more I review recent Bengal campaigns and the continual frustration the team, fans and city have had, the more I'm look at Carson Palmer. On a prior thread, no one could think of a game that meant something where he came through and won it in the clutch. I can think back to December 5, 2004 in Baltimore when I thought we had the second coming of John Elway, Troy Aikman, etc. Now he looks more and more like Drew Bledsoe. I don't care if fans worship him and see him as untouchable. Was 12/5/04 the last fourth quarter/overtime comeback this team has had? How many close games can you remember where the offense and Carson Palmer failed miserably on a final drive that would have tied on won the game?

michaelallenstowe, you posted this exact garbage comment over at Cincinnati.com like 3 times. Get real, while Carson's not perfect (no player or person is) he's the best player at his position on the team. Does he lack some things I'd like to see in my franchise QB, you bet, but you're an idiot if you think he hasnt' come thru in the clutch for this team.
and to quote RUNINRAIDER's comment from cincy.com: "10/21/07 Bengals score 28 points in the last 18 minutes to beat the Jets 38-31. 9/10/07 Palmer throws a TD pass to Chad and converts the 2pt conversion in the 4th to beat Baltimore 27-20. 12/24/06, Palmer leads 90 yard drive against the Bronco's to score a last minute TD, only to have St. Louis make a horrible snap causing them to lose 24-23: pretty tough to blame a QB for that not sending the game to OT. 10/22/06, Palmer makes that ridiculous pass down the sideline to Chad on 4th and 1 for a 32 yard yard gain down to the 1 yard line against Carolina. We score the next play and win 17-14."

I see that the Operation Dumbo Drop speech is thus far still unsubstantiated. Don't let your understandable frustrations with Chad zombify you guys. Be better than that. I do like the comment Chad made about Ghiaciuc. Chad may not have his head on straight, but he's not an idiot in the strictest sense of the word.

Michael why are you running away Michael MICHAEL.... Where did he go?
Posted by: RK | June 12, 2009 at 04:28 PM
The examples you picked are interesting:
10/21/07 The Bengals were 1-4 coming in and are able to mount a comeback to beat a Jets team that finished the season 4-12. Carson was 14-21 for 217, 1 TD/1 INT. Here's a description by Eric Allen of Jets.com, "RB Kenny Watson, in for a banged-up Rudi Johnson, scored three touchdowns and rushed for a career-high 130 yards as the Bengals moved the ball consistently on the ground. Cincinnati didn’t need a heroic performance from QB Carson Palmer. He was efficient, completing 14 of 21 for 217 yards." In fact after the first quarter, CP had 150 yards passing. Johnathan Joseph had a pick six late.
09/10/07 MNF and HOF jacket! Carson goes 20-32 for 181, 2 TD/0 INT against a Raven team that would commit 6 turnovers and stumble its way to a 5-11 last place finish. After the TD pass early to Chad for 39 yds, CP throws for 142 the rest of the game.
12/24/06 The Denver game. #9 completes 21-40 for 194 (4.85 yds/att) 2 TD/2 INT against another non-playoff team. The two minute drive and missed extra point are remembered, but Carson's shot put over Housh's head on the goal line after the 1st quarter Dexter Jackson pick is never mentioned when discussing this disaster. Did anyone else notice that #9 missed Chad twice on fly patterns that would have gone all the way? This was the game I remember hearing Bengals fans yelling "Scatterarm" for the first time.
10/22/06 This is the one where Kenny Albert and Darryl Johnston were mocking the Bengals offense for five consecutive 3 and outs to begin the game. Carson was 23-39 for 230 with 2 TD/0 INT against a lackluster Panthers squad that limped to 8-8 in a weak NFC South. The Bengals struggle mightily throughout the game just to score 17 points.
Bengal opponents in the above games were 26-38 and none were playoff caliber.
Are these the top crunch-time career highlights of a great NFL quarterback? Can anybody think of some better examples?
Posted by: michaelallenstowe | June 12, 2009 at 11:18 PM
who cares what the other teams' records were, I believe Carson was the QB for ALL of those games, and the Bengals DID come back and win them. Those were examples that answered your question about games where Carson had come through in the clutch. Just because they weren't beating the 18-0 Patriots in come from behind fashion, doesn't exclude those as examples of comebacks lead by Carson. And total yards for the game, or for the 4th quarter, or for the 2nd-4th quarters do not matter. What matters is the W!
Anyway, what is your point? You want a new QB? If you think starting QB is the Bengals' problem, I'm not sure there's much help we can offer. Me thinks you're a Steeler's Troll!
Posted by: Marc | June 13, 2009 at 10:35 AM
Could you imagine reading in the paper that the Bengal's were looking for a replacement QB? I don't even want to think about it. I remember last year that there was someone who called the radio broadcast after the game and said we needed to sit Palmer when he got healthy and play Fitzpatrick. I don't have a clue what some of these people are thinking.
