Say what you will about Marvin Lewis. The one thing anyone would have to admit is that the guy is active in the community. He has certainly championed the cause of education during his time in Cincinnati. Noble cause, without a doubt. This being the case, the Marvin Lewis Community Fund set up a program where all Cincinnati Public School children who made the "A" Honor Roll twice this school year would get to meet Marvin and a few players at a PBS party in their honor. Personally I'd have rather thrown a few health tests than meet what was probably David Jones and Jonathan Fanene. I guess this was some sort of incentive, however. About 2,500 kids achieved this feat.
Here's where this story gets interesting. Marvin pre-recorded an automated message to be sent out to the 2,500 who were invited. However, instead of just going to those who were to be invited, the message went out to as many as 20,000 children in the CPS system. When the mistake was realized, another automated message was sent resinding the invitation to those who were not supposed to get it in the first place. Basically, Mike Brown stomped onto the heart of Cincinnati children (again).
Now, by all accounts this is the fault of the company making the automated calls. I'm sure if Mikey's second cousin who makes $450k a year as an "Associate Marketing Director" could have screwed this up, he would have. Unfortunately, we can't pin this one on the Bengals. What I don't get is why they didn't just have all 20,000 kids down to PBS anyways. Sure, most of those kids didn't win. But they all competed. Isn't that what matters with the Bengals organization? Why hold the children of Cincinnati to a higher standard than your football operations people? Bengals management certainly wouldn't be on the NFL's "A" Honor Roll, but they get to come to PBS all the time!
(h/t Deadspin)

Mikey Boy only eats gold star because he empathizes with their level of competitiveness.

OH THE IRONY!!! Reward Excellence? This behavior coming from anyone or place related to the Cincinnati Bengals, what is this?
I did not get the memo. Since when has good, strong, cometitive, "showing up" after some real work no longer accepted?

Didn't we reward Pecko for "contributing" last year? Didn't these kids contribute?

Take the log out of your own eye before you try to remove the speck in another persons eye.

Captain's Log, Stardate 6102009:
I never understood that...I thought we were supposed to put others' needs before our own...then again, maybe it's just a statement about conviction...if that's the case, then the WDR and other disgruntled Bengals fans have plenty of conviction...
