Who Dey Revolution Manifesto

  • Preamble

    IN THIS TIME of perpetual Cincinnati Bengals incompetence and futility, with zero playoff wins in the nineteen seasons since the WhoDeyRevolution Godfather, Paul Brown, passed away in 1991 and handed the team to his fortunate son, the Despot, Mike Brown;

    Introduction

    WE, the members of the Who Dey Revolution, in our fervent dedication to the Cincinnati Bengals and fanatical desire to transform our hometown team into perpetual Super Bowl contenders, call for a popular revolution of fans to demand comprehensive reform to the managerial decisions and approach of Cincinnati Bengals ownership, management, staff and players, and hereby call for the adoption of the following Who Dey Revolution Manifesto:

    Manifesto Demands

    THAT the Mike Brown, Katie Blackburn, Marvin Lewis, along with every other member of the Bengals management, staff and personnel, state publicly to all Bengals fans, “I will do everything in my power to help the Cincinnati Bengals win a Super Bowl;”

    THAT Mike Brown will hire a general manager, drastically expand the scouting department and relinquish all control of player personnel;

    THAT all training, rehabilitation and medical facilities are considered best-in-class compared to other NFL teams;

    THAT the management fill the team only with players who fit the system, both mentally and physically, and are not reluctant to makes changes to player personnel when needed, regardless of cost or loyalty concerns;

    THAT offensive and defensive line depth is considered the top priority for all player personnel decisions;

    THAT all decisions made by ownership, management, staff and players, both on and off the field, are judged only by this criterion: “Does this help the Cincinnati Bengals win a Super Bowl?”

Let's give credit where it is due. This is one great fucking draft so far. Going five rounds deep with potential future starters, many of which will impact things right away... Well, that is just outstanding. We'll find out if they can play in this league soon enough, but this looks good now.

I agree this has been an outstanding weekend thus far for the Bungles! They could still really use a RB to finish this draft off. Cant be too comfortable with Benson going forward...

The only criticism I can think of is not packaging 6th and 7th round picks to move back into the tail end of the 5th and get Javon Ringer.

That would have been a strong move to finish out the draft. There's just no way we need 11 picks or all of our 7th rounders are gonna make the squad.

for the ocho cincoth time: you can't package most of those picks. they're supplemental and trading them is prohibited. you all act like you're playing a lazy-boyz video game. why would a team want the one 6th and 7th that we can trade to give up a 5th? you just can't take everything you want and for the first time in a long time, they've hit it pretty much right. even this last pick at corner is a decent choice considering you're in the late rounds. he's known to be a leaper which can help in redzone situations when leon and j.joe are a little short. haven't verified this, but he may have played with leon back in college, which is always good for chemistry.

No shit sherlock. They could have moved up 10 spots by giving up
THEIR 6th and THEIR 7th. When you see what they have to show for those two picks you would have gladly traded up for Ringer.

5th round 6th round doesn't matter. They only needed to move up 10 spots. The value on a late 5th vs an early 6th are about the same.

Since most teams use a draft value chart it would have been a good trade for someone else.

Bernard Scott...*shakes head*

j m - you just continue to act like these trades are littering the war rooms. other teams trade around, but for earlier rounds. not an early 6th and 7th for a 5th. these rounds are the time where you take flyers on people. most teams would rather have their spot to make their pick and be done. an extra 7th really isn't worth that much. and along those lines, mokenrue - the late 6th round is where you take a chance on a guy like scott. you're not investing anything. it's a high level of on-field competition in camp. who gives a shit what his past is at that point, and who cares if he doesn't make the squad or gets arrested. that shit is only for talking heads to talk about and gives the perception of a distraction in the locker room. if the dude can play and the other players accept him, who cares what the critics say. there's a lot of people that have jobs and are entitled to them even though they have previous misdemeanors on their record and don't like to do school work. this is the part of the draft where you take a chance and i'm glad they learned that lesson.

"i'm glad they learned that lesson."

The point is they have not learned any lessons. This whole draft is full of character question marks. Resigning Chris Henry (who has admittedly been clean for a while now) showed that they have not learned their lessons. You can say it's unfair to criticize the Bengals for this selection when if another team might have been given a pass on it, but the Bengals have placed themselves in a position in which the criticism is warranted. Their situation dictates that they go an extra mile to clean up, and they have not done so.

Mockenrue-

I couldnt agree more! you are exactly right, there are tons of character questions marks. ie. A.Smith, Rey, M. Johnson, B Scott. If i forgot anyone else please correct me, but thats besides the point... The Bengals continue to not learn from their mistakes. I hope I am wrong but i wouldnt be surprised if we are talking about this draft 2-3 years from now questioning character all over again...

calm yourselves. if what andre smith and johnson have are character issues, then 98% of us have had character issues like that in college (lazy and a bit unprofessional). most of us grow out of it. rey's character issue is that he's nuts. not a bad deal for ILB in the AFC North. the RB is a chance. plenty of kids get in fights in high school. plenty of kids do dumb things when they get pulled over by a cop (if driving home to his house and showing his brother's i.d. is all we got here, please.) the incident with his coach in college is regrettable and his explanation is plausible. and finally you mentioned it yourself - he's finishing a year and a half probation. that means he's making an effort to turn a corner, much like henry to whom you alluded. most of this character shit is media driven and something convenient to whine about and vent your own prejudices. this draft was legit, and there are plenty of people pumped.

Votasi-

What we are trying to say is that we are thrilled with the draft; however, us Bengals fans have been bit before way to many times. We are happy and hopeful but the fact remains is that this is just the draft they havent even set foot on the field yet.

Jordan,

You probably shouldn't speak for "Us". I liked the draft you will find reason to be pissed about anything.

Tomorrow complain about your lunch, have a case of the monday's and tell your co-workers life isn't fair.

Have a good time continuing to look for the bad in everything.

I just can't help but see this draft as a ticking time bomb, in much the way the 2005 draft was. In 2005 we thought that draft was awesome. We saw a lot of good rookie production. What do you think of that draft now? I feel like in four years, we'll be saying the same thing about this draft as well. Hope I'm wrong.

me-

WTF! Im not pissed about anything and I sure as hell dont complain about much nor am I complaining about this draft. Im extremely optimistic about pretty much everything in life; however, Ive been a Bengals Fan for my whole entire life and all I am saying is I know what has happened in the past and Im not getting my hopes up!

Mockenrue - Feels exactly as I do as do a lot of other Bengals Fans, so dont get your panties all in a bunch 'me'
