Marvin "Chuckles" Lewis: Master Suspense Builder

As I perused this Enquirer article on the Coles signing (my take:  "eh, not bad"), I noticed this swipe by Marvin at those who call the Bengals an amateur organization (us) and a juicy teaser about another signing.

Lewis also made a point to say the team continues to move forward and said fans need to know the "old way" of doing business for the Bengals is over. He said there are other areas the Bengals need to address and that another contract will be finished later today.

Phew, glad Marvin assures me that the past 18 years of doing business the "old way" (i.e., the terrible way) is finally over.  Glad that's taken care of.  I'll just ignore almost two decades of evidence to the contrary now.

But Marvin doesn't stop there.  Who is this other contract we are finishing today?  Marvin, don't tease me like that!  I don't know if I can take the suspense.  Is it another receiver?  God I hope it's another receiver.

Wait, it's J.T. O'Sullivan?  Damn, Chuckles, I did NOT see that coming.  The suspense almost broke me but that HUGE payoff made it all worth it.  You're the best.

Hobson is sooo excited that he continues using the best cliches he has, as cited in your previous posts. The latest: Marvin Lewis said Thursday another move is imminent. Could that mean backup quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan IN THE FOLD?

While I suppose that the Coles signing is a good thing I would feel a lot better if he would have concentrated on signing the most glaring need, one or two offensive linemen but I guess Mikey feels that they won't sell tickets.

Two other things strike me about the article. First, Lewis is hoping Coles mentors the young WRs. Heaven help us if that chore were left up to 85! Also, Carson called TJ to get his opinion of Coles. Here's hoping when 84 (now 18) decides it's time to stop going over the middle he decides to come back here...as GM!

Someone should ask Lewis why, if the old way of doing business is over, he has not signed another extension. Same clowns running the show means the same way of doing business - too cheap to actually want to win.
