1. They need a COMPETENT General Manager
2. They need to do a better job drafting and signing players who fit into the correct coaching schemes.
3. The owner needs to bring in football minds to run the football aspect of the game.
Now here is a multiple choice question for you. Who was making these comments after the Bengals/Redskins game on Sunday?
a. Bengals fans
b. Redskins fans
c. Anyone who knows anything about football
The answer, of course is C. If you guessed correctly, click HERE for your prize (we will give you a WDR shirt for the low low price of what it costs).
As I listened to the post game analysis, call in shows, and sports talk shows on local Washington DC radio, since the Rumble in the Jungle took place on Sunday, many emotions have run through my head. The first one was joy. As a Bengal's fan living in Washington DC, I was extremely happy that I did not have to put up with all of the trash talking that I was going to inevitably get as I went to work this week. The second was sadness because I realized that I was gloating about a 2-11-1 team (it is making me sad just thinking about this now)...but the third emotion was confusion. It seemed like I had heard all of the Skin's demands somewhere else...
Hmmm...where had I heard this before? Hire a GM. Draft/Sign players that can actually help improve a team. Get rid of an incompetent owner...where on Earth had I heard this??? Oh yeah. It's the WhoDeyRevolution manifesto (left side of the screen). While listening to these shows on the radio I had to check twice to make sure I was not accidentally turned to 700WLW.
Were the Redskins really just like the Bengals? After the jump, let's look at a few of the "hot topics" from the game on Sunday.
1. As many media outlets stated, the offensive line has forgotten how to protect the quarter back. Sound familiar? (Click there to see what I am referring to). Similar to the Bengals, due to injuries (and in my opinion stupid management) both offensive lines have been forced to play practice squad players or pluck other team's practice squad players. That is not going to help protect leader of your offense. This also shows the lack of depth on both teams. In case you thought I was kidding, please see this pic again .
2. The Skins used one of their top draft picks on Wide Receiver Devin Thomas and as one article states, "If Devin Thomas doesn’t know when he’s supposed to be on the field (he has looked like a “deer in headlights” for most of the year), put him on the bench and keep him there." Now, forgive me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure the Bengals drafted someone similar with one of their top picks...but he has been much more productive, right? Wrong! Not to say that Jerome Simpson will not be a good football player, some day, but you cannot draft a player in the second round with the intention of him having an immediate impact, and never put him on the field. Word from PBS on Sunday was that they deactivated Jerome due to a coaches decision, not an injury. Awesome. (We could have drafted DeSean Jackson, Donnie Avery, Eddie Royal...etc...all of them are having monster rookie seasons).
3. The defensive line cannot put any pressure on the Quarterback. This has been the number one complaint from Bengals fans for the past 867 years. Ok, that might be an exaggeration, but since I can remember, people have talked about a lack of a pass rush for the Bengals. It is pretty clear that you need good Defensive Tackles to compliment your Defensive Ends (see the AFC North leading Tennessee Titans), and the Bengals just never seem to want one bad enough. (See here and Here).
4. Injuries have plagued the team all season having many people question the competency of the medical staff. This sounds a little familiar (See here).
5. The team needs a competent General Manager. Similar to the Bengals the Skins do not have a real GM. They have a squash buddy of owner Dan Synder who was promoted as the Vice President of Football Operations. His responsibilities are to act as the head of personnel, team roster, scouting, and team management. This is his second stint with the Skins (some of his big named signing as "GM" were elderly Bruce Smith, Deon Sanders, and Irving Fryer...lets just say that did not work out as well as he wanted). I know a lot of you are saying, "well, at least they have a GM". This proves the WDR point, that you must have a COMPETENT GM who is capable of making productive football decisions.
Lets not forget that the Skins made the playoffs last year, started off great this year, and will (probably) end up at an extremely mediocre 8-8. Wow...I think the Bengals made the playoffs a few years ago, started off the next season great, and quickly began the sinking ship that is 2-11-1.
So, my advice for all of you Skins fans...join the Revolution...
As John Pershing once said, "A competent leader can get efficient service from his men, while on the contrary an incapable leader can demoralize the best of troops."
Viva la Revolucion
Other teams are such whiners. Wah wah, we are going to miss the playoff this year. WE MISS THE PLAYOFFS EVERY YEAR (minus one). You are going to go 8-8, that is Mike Browns goal.
Think about that, what makes another city cry for the head of the owner, gm, coach, etc is what OUR OWNER WANTS!!!
Other cities (other than Detroit) need to take a step back. We would DIE for Dan Snyder and whatever crony he puts in the front office over Mike Brown and family. Seriously Washington, grow up.
You are almost as bad as all the Pittsburgh fans complaining about their OC and OL when they are 11-3. Nevermind, Steeler fans are much worse. Much Much Worse.

At least Redskins fans don't smell as bad as Steelers fans!
