Can I Just Say...

...That the Bengals have officially RUINED the NFL for me?  Watching the Saints game, I just saw Drew Brees become the first QB in NFL history to complete a 40+ pass in nine straight games.  The Bengals this year: zero.  None.  I think the longest was a screen pass that one of our backs broke before halftime (I am serious about this--I would check on that but I've wasted enough time with this franchise...OK I checked, it was a 36-yard pass to Dede Dorsey in game 2).

The other week, when the Patriots were playing, Adam Schefter reported that they were setting records for most starters on the IR--which includes, mind you, the best QB in football, Tom Brady.  And yet, they still have a winning record despite having largely mediocre talent (I mean, outside of Brady--who's out--and Moss, do they really have a ton of All Stars?  Maybe Wilfork and the rookie Mayo, but Deltha O'Neal starts for them for Christ's sake).  Quite simply: they find ways to make it work--the Bengals use injuries as an excuse for why they are so shitty.  

And then, finally, I go over to bengals.com, where Bagdad Hob, right on cue, answers a "fan question" about who we should draft.  He subtly hints that we will be taking a WR after we lose TJ in Free Agency.  I'm convinced that these fan questions are just a way to soften the blow when it comes.  It's tantamount to saying to someone "brace yourself" before you kick them in the balls.  Sure, it's a courtesy, but it's not gonna make it hurt any less.

On the plus side, the Detroit Lions took WR's with high draft picks several years in a row, and look at them: they are having the "perfect season" that Mike Brown seems to be after!!!

You know, I think the offensive line needs some work. But they always go after sexy position players that get hurt early and often. I am no great football thinker like Mike Brown, but it seems to me that if they drafted some guys that would give Carson some time to throw, then that would be better than drafting great receivers. Oh yeah, and they need pass rush. But, that being said, I am sure they will use their high draft picks on a RB and a WR.
