49ers Head Coach Mike Nolan was fired yesterday after the team started 2-5. The team had lost 4 straight and the defense, Nolan's "specialty" had let up 196 points this season, most in the league (the Bengals are the worst offensive team in the league, averaging 225 yards and 14 points a game).
49ers General Manager Scot McCloughan commented on the firing, "...my first obligation is always to do what is in the best interest of our fans and the entire 49ers organization."
Notice any difference between the 49ers situation and the Bengals? How about the fact that San Fran has a General Manager? It is for this reason that WDR is not convinced that firing Marvin Lewis is a good idea. Don't forget that if they fire Marvin, guess who gets to decide who replaces him? Not a GM who understands football, but Mikey Brown, Katie "Pittsburgh Apologist and Daddy's Suit Hand-Me Down Wearer" Blackburn and Troy "Children's Dream Crusher" Blackburn. And do you trust them to hire someone who can make some changes?
However, at 0-7 and headed for a historic defeated season, I guess something needs to change.
Stupid Bengals Fan who is Detached from Reality: The Bengals should hire Bill Cowher!
Stop. Please stop. You are embarrassing your family. Bill Cowher, or any coach with any respect for himself will never - I repeat, NEVER - come and coach for Mike Brown. Do you think that Cowher will be OK with Mike Brown calling the shots on free agency, re-signing Chris Henry and maintaining a strangle-hold on the team? If Marvin is fired, expect someone to be hired (like Marvin) who is in line for a coaching job but was passed over a few times and just wants a head coaching job.
In addition, anyone who thinks that with a new head coach and O Coordinator would have propelled the Bengals to the Super Bowl this year was likely educated in Western PA (aka Northern West Virginia). There are a few other problems the team needs to address as well.
Bottom line, before the Bengals think of making coaching changes, they need to take a page from Detroit and fire their GM.
So, in summary, WDR believes that the only thing more scary than the Bengals not firing Marvin Lewis is firing Marvin Lewis.

This is like the Ultimate Paradox.

San Fran - First Question of the interview.
SF Front Office: You were cut by the Bengals?
Bengal Castoff: Yes.
SF: Welcome Aboard. Hows a multi million multi year deal sound?
Bengal: Well actually, I don't know much longer I'm going to play.
SF: Shahh. Tell you what. We'll give you the long deal, and if you retire, we'll just pay you to be retired.

During the game on Sunday a known Bengal season ticket holder called and texted the jerk line 29 times with the following comment
"I would like to report that Mike Brown is mentally abusing the fans from his suite."
They called him back on his phone and threatened to take his tickets from him.
1. They have no idea who he is.
2. He told them that he would call every radio and tv station if they tried to take his tickets for a valid jerk complaint.
3. The lady at the other end of the conversation told the ticket holder that the complaint was not valid and to please stop calling the line with fake complaints, as is "we take this line seriously" to which the ticket holder replied "as a season ticket holder, I take my money being flushed down Mike Brown's potty serious."
This is a chance to directly trash Mike Brown and get a response from a Bengals employee. Take command of this revolution, spread the word, make the call, 381-JERK. We can make this happen, make an employee acknowledge that Mike Brown, Katie Blackburn, and Troy Blackburn are abusing the fans, and ask them what they are going to do about it. Viva la revolution!!!!!!!!!!
