Here is my Semi Live Blog. Meaning, I probably will not be updating as frequently as other live blogs. Things I am looking forward to, that pizza I just ordered. Things I am scared of "J Joseph Out, D Jones to Start." Here we go.
1:05: Great first series for our new staring QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. He is married to the former captain of the Harvard Women's Soccer team, and is rumored to have scored a 49 (out of 50) on the Wonderlick test.
1:07: Dear god.
1:08: As I predicted, this team as already given up. The D line is getting pushed around and no one is flying to the ball. One guy making every tackle.
1:10: Just as I rip the D, they come up with a big play. John Thorton beat his man across his face (I think it was Steinbech), and Ndukwe coming off the edge to make a nice play. Time for the O to act like a "Professional Football Organization."
1:16: Shaun Rogers is blowing up our interior line. Make it stop.
1:21: Pizza here. Defense showed up a little bit, they just need to learn the rules of football. Peko is getting pushed around. He makes John Thorton look like Albert Hanyesworth.
1:24: Rivers all over that screen pass. I have a man crush on him.
1:27: Blitz....little pressure, big play by Leon Hall. He has been much better this year, but I am still nervous every time they throw his way.
1:29: My fearless comrade and leader Brosef Stalin texts me an interesting stat. 4 min left in the 1st quarter, Browns first downs - 6 Bengals - 0. On the positive side, Derek Anderson and his receivers look terrible. If the Bengals can stop the run, they have a chance.
1:32: I don't think the fans are cheering for Boo Weekley or Wake Forest DT Boo Robinson.
1:33: FIRST DOWN!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like the Little Giants, "We Gained a Yard!"
1:36: Bratkowski's offensive plan, make the Browns like up offside. It is working.
1:39: Nice protection, and Fitzy shows a little moxie and gets the 1st down. The Jungle is rumbling, kind of. And Chris Perry runs over the umpire, signs of life.
1:42: And Levi false starts. A smattering of boos from the smart fans who are aware how Levi is the worst starting left tackle in the NFL.
1:44: Shayne shows some leadership by nailing a 42 yarder. I feel better after that drive, the O line got some push and gave Fitzy time to overthrow receivers or run for first downs. The plan from here on out needs to be short passes and going over the top with playaction. Fitzy and the receivers do not have the timing down to run those intermediate routes. Run, dink and dunk, and throw a couple bombs.
1:50: Ndukwe untouched on a sack. He is having a solid game. Offense needs to keep the momentum going, I would like them to go over the top on first down.
1:57: Bad int by Fitzy. I do not like that play call. 5 receivers, lots of options, lots of reads for our backup QB to make. When we pass, keep it simple. We don't need our backup QB trying to look off DBs and make fancy throws.
1:58: Brosef says Fitzy is taking advice from Henry Roengardner's mom, "Just float it."
2:02: That picture of Cincinnati is amazing. I think the Ohio River was digitially altered, it looks so blue.
2:06: Nice stop by the D, thank God Derek Anderson is terrible. The D is playing with a little fire. Lets get some points before halftime.
2:07: Big 3rd down, I would like to see them go over the top here.
2:08: HUGE hit by Chris Perry, that is what it takes to win. After throwing a pick, you don't put your head down and feel sorry for yourself. Chris Perry was looking to make a big hit and he did. Also, big play by Chad, hustling back and making the fumble recovery. Those are the types of efford plays that separate winners from losers.
2:10: That recovery by Chad is the biggest play he has made in a long long time. Chad was on the ground after the pick, and I would have thought that he would have stayed down and whined about not making the catch. He didn't, he got up and chased the ball down. If the Bengals win this game, Chad's effort on that play will be the turning point.
2:14: Nice hot read pass by Fitzy to TJ. He saw the blitz coming on the right, and hit TJ over the middle before the saftey could come up and get coverage. Followed by a sack. One step forward, two steps back.
2:15: Fitzpatrick does not look good in the pocket. After his 5 or 7 step drop, he has happy feat and keeps inching backwards. He needs to stand tall and deliver the ball.
2:18: Nice FG by Shayne. This 2nd half is going to be ugly and physical. I hope we are up for it.
2:21: 6-3 without Carson, I will take it. Marvin better get the boys fired up, because the first drive of the 3rd quarter will be huge.
