Last night John Kitna looked more like a terrifying instrument of god than the goofy ass guy we all know he really is. It's pretty clear he needed little help from a higher power though, just a renewed faith in the Bengals providing him with wide open receivers and one on one coverage. I wish the Bengals played in the sorry ass NFC North after last night's ominous showing against the Lions, because that sort of play is not going to cut it against anyone in the AFC outside of Baltimore.
Carson Palmer did not look good. He doesn't look in synch with his revolving door of receivers out there, and the line wasn't helping alleviate any pressure. The first of those problems isn't entirely Carson's fault. His safety net, Housh, hasn't been on the field yet and Chad doesn't have much interest in practicing and playing in the preseason for a team he ultimately doesn't want to play for.
Chris Perry is going to be really good or really hurt.
This man to man defense might have problems against fast, tall and
freakishly athletic receivers like Calvin Johnson. Then again all
defenses, especially the Bengals, have problems against those types.
Luckily, we won't have to play the Lions again this season unless they
hold an impromptu NFL street matchup like the one in the old Playmakers
episode where the two squads play outside a Club in their street
clothes. That show was really sweet.
