Previously posted as a rumor on profootballtalk.com and now confirmed by Odell Thurman's agent, Safarrah Lawson, Odell Thurman will be waived today by the Bengals.
The final straw was apparently Thurman taking too much time to return to Cincinnati for voluntary workouts last week after the funeral of his grandmother (essentially the woman that raised Thurman).
However, you have to wonder if another legal issue popped up between Thurman's reinstatement and now.
While you need talent to win in this league, you also need players you can count on.
Comrades, today our revolution takes another (albeit small) step forward, with the Bengals ridding themselves of another unreliable player.

Amen - the last thing the Bengals need is another unreliable "project." Time to move on and stop counting on a guy who we can't rely on as a major component of the "rejuvenated" Bengals D.

Henry and Odell are gone. Don't worry, we've reloaded for 2008 in Jason Shirley, Maurice Purify and Kyries Hebert.

To be frank, we need Odell. In any other line of work, a DUI and a self-admitted alcohol problem are not grounds for dismissal- excepting maybe being a pilot or an air traffic controller. If I get a DUI, so long as I can make it to and from work and do my job, it's not a problem. Also, in this day and age, when all but the most neanderthal amongst us recognize alcoholism- or addiction in general- as a disease, I'm pretty sure it can't be a reason for termination.

God knows what Odell has been doing for the last two years. I think this is Marvin finally getting his way and telling Mike Brown, "I do not want this guy on my team." Finally.
