The draft is coming up pretty soon, and in case you haven't heard the Bengals have been awarded 4 compensatory picks giving us a grand total of 10 picks. Everyone in Cincinnati is dreaming about what moves we will make with those picks, and who we are going to select in the first round. There are the hopefuls that think we will deal some picks to move up and select one of the blockbuster DTs, Sedrick
Ellis or Glenn Dorsey (which is absolutely what we need to do.) Some speculate that we will trade down and select a NFL ready linebacker, like Keith Rivers. And others (including Bengals owner Mike Brown) think that we should sit tight at pick #9, and take whatever falls in our lap.
When it comes to the draft, it is no secret that the Bengals are inept at making deals and getting good value with their picks. Although you would not think that an owner would just come right out and admit total complacency, Mike Brown defies all odds and does just that. Without further ado, I present you with a direct quote:
"Until somebody presents us with some overwhelmingly attractive deal, we're just content to have the picks," Brown said. "We'll bring in some young guys. I don't know that they'll step in right away but check in a year or so and you'll find they are contributors, I'm sure."
There are a few things that really bother me about this quote. First of which is the use of the word "content". I sure as hell can tell you that after 17 years of one of the worst cumulative records in the history of pro sports, nobody in this organization should be content about anything. Second, he says "we'll bring in some young guys" is just plain stupid. That is basically the definition of the draft. Third, the last part of the quote shows that he has no interest in getting better THIS YEAR. Since when do the Bengals have the luxury of bringing in backups and special teams players, in hopes that they will get a few snaps in their sophomore season? And the last thing that we need to do is draft an 8th string QB and a few more punters that would multi-task as spiritual leaders.
This is just one more reason to show your dedication to changing the way the Bengals do business, by joining the Who Dey Revolution. You can do this by clicking here and posting a comment at the bottom!

How would Mike Brown define an "overwhelmingly attractive deal"?
Didn't he pass on the Saints offer for all there draft picks to get Akili Smith?
