A demonstration is a form of nonviolent action by groups of people in favor of a political or other cause, normally consisting of walking in a march and a meeting (rally) to hear speakers. Actions such as blockades and sit-ins may also be referred to as demonstrations.
The term has been in use since the mid-19th century, as was the term 'monster meeting', which was coined initially with reference to the huge assemblies of protesters inspired by Daniel O'Connell in Ireland.
Demonstrations are a form of activism, usually taking the form of a public gathering of people in a rally or walking in a march. At times, more interventionist actions such as blockades and sit-ins have been referred to as demonstrations. Thus, the opinion is demonstrated to be significant by gathering in a crowd associated with that opinion.
Demonstrations can be used to show a viewpoint (either positive or negative) regarding a public issue, especially relating to a perceived grievance or social injustice. A demonstration is usually considered more successful if more people participate. Topics of demonstrations often deal with political, economic, and social issues.

we need to talk to mike holgrom about football operations and not let the Cleveland Browns do it. We are in dire need of a general manager and that is the whole truth. Mike Brown doesn't seem to get our messages and I can understand why he sucks. He is a terrable owner and it seems as though he should get that in his empty nogon. Sincerely yours Jane Davison Geneva, N.Y.

just a note to say that the Bengals are my favoriate football team. I was happy that they beat Pittsburgh today. good luck with the rest of the season Jane Davison

dear sir,
I feel that Kevin Colbert of the Pittsburgh Steelers would be a wonderful general manager for Cincinnati. Mike Brown and the rest of the family need to retire and move to Miami Jane Davison Geneva, N.Y.

If the Cardiac Cats can keep it real for 11 more games, and I don't have a cardiac arrest. This could be one of the funnest Bengal season I have experienced in a long, long time. I am enjoying and savoring every last second of it!! Hated to see St. Louis go, but you are paid to do a job, and you were not doing it. Good Luck to you Brad in whatever you do in the future. Welcome Clark Harris, a Big East boy, to the Who Deys!!! Good Luck this week against your former team. GO CATS.....

Hey mikey, I'm not the man my father is (or in your case was) either. But I know it, I'm getting closer everyday, and I'm doing my best to honor my father. I wish you could say the same. And if you are trying mikey, then the problem is more monumental than I thought.
Paul Brown is the most under-rated football mind in pro football history (at least he is appropriately, or at least adequately, recognized in the annals of both high school and college football history). PB deserves better, Bengal fans deserve better, football fans deserve better.

I'm so sick of the losing. How can people still buy tickets to watch that crap?
Posted by: Charles Hertz | September 20, 2009 at 07:54 AM
The bengals have talent but the window is closing fast. Changes need to be made fast. Bratkowski should not be calling plays for Pee Wee football and Brown is a Douche. Been on this website a lot I have finally had enough.

I proudly support the Who Dey revolution!!!!!

If the masses do end up boycotting Bengals games, can Mike Brown still move the team to another city? If so, what are the chances the NFL will grant Cincinnati another franchise?? I'm curious to see if this is a possibility, and how we could convince Roger Godell to grant us another team.
I love the Bengals and have been a life long fine, but when something's not working, at some point you have to accept reality and cut the cord. Maybe a new franchise in Cincinnati with new ownership would bring the change we so desperately seek.

I don't know who would be more ashamed of their son, Paul Brown who's son has taken the once proud NFL franchise he'd built and utterly ruined it for his own financial gain or my dad for supporting PBs son by buying tickets, jerseys, hats etc. From this day on I'm going to honor MY father and join the revolution.

I hope the Brown family doen't think this revolution is a passing fad. I always have been and always will be a Bengals fan, but this shit has got to stop. Show some balls by admitting you're clueless and let someone more qualified take control of the operation of this team. I can't take it any more.

Proud Bengals fan, living in San Diego, watching another franchise try really hard to "Win A Superbowl" and being sick of Bungle failure. 12/20 I'm going to a Bengal game (and rewarding the Chargers organization financially) and I hope we're 13-0 but I'll have revolution signs ready just in case (watch for me in a shopping bag mask with a "For Paul's Sake! Hire a GM!" sign)

I've got to rep the Bengals in a two-team town. It's tough. I'm tired of making excuses to Pats and Giants fans about our terrible management. Let's see something happen. Keep the planes going. I hope HBO will show em

I think Mr. Brown should approve a free six month prescription for Zoloft for every Season ticket holder.

Mike Brown and Katie are a joke. They'll definitely be one of the top contenders of "worst thing to ever happen to Cincinnati"

Sort it out! In 1988 I was a skinny british kid watching american football in the UK on Channel 4. This was back in the day when all we had was four channels. Channel 4 was the freaky esoteric channel that showed all the foreign stuff. I was hooked on your shitty team from then. You remember Mike, we nearly won something called the super bowl? I have watched in horror from the other side of the atlantic for the last 20 years. I am no longer a boy but a man who supports a team in a sport no one likes. You don't even know people like me exist. Splash the cash or bugger off!

Bengals fan from Canada here. Not hiring a GM is beyond pathetic. No franchise in the Canadian Football League would be without one, even though the budget for an entire team is less than what Carson Palmer earns in a year. To think that the Bengals organization is less professional than our home grown minor league outfits... well, that's just stupefying.

you need to go to bengals.com and check out the quote by Andre Smith's former agent under the title "Thursday Quick Hits" basically saying Andre doesnt have the character to remain with their company

We are finally free of the Houshmandzadeh curse! (For those of you who don't know, look at the win/loss record when he was the leading receiver from 06 to 08) Now all we need is a GM.

There is a standing bounty in Charlotte for Ole Mikey.
I'm sick of people seeing who i'm a fan of and laughing. I dream of the day when i can where my Bengals hat with pride and have people react like they do to Yankees fans. They hate you for liking a good team that's easy to root for.

I'm a utilitarian and the joy a well-run NFL franchise provides millions of fans is more important than the millions of dollars a single miserly sperm-Olympics-winning ne'er-do-well earns running that franchise into the ground.
(We'd do well to apply that principle to a lot of things, actually.)
